When was the last time you spoke to a manager about someone’s good service?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📖 Story: When I lived in Chicago, there was a gentleman at Mariano’s grocery who always made fresh guacamole for me. What stood out was his cheerfulness. He wasn’t just doing his job. He was helping people.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even when I saw him outside his department, he’d say hi and strike up a short conversation. If I was traveling, he’d comment on my absence. “I haven’t seen you in a while, how are you doing?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One day, I noticed the store manager and what appeared to be a divison manager walking around the deli area. I introduced myself and quickly told them about the consistently great service the gentleman provided. They thanked me for stopping and sharing. They bought his lunch as a reward.

This seems like a small interaction, but small efforts matter. The consistent friendly interaction made a difference in my shopping experience. As a former manager, team members like this gentleman are invaluable to a business. They deserve to be recognized!

💙 I encourage you to “look for goodness; lift people up”. It can be with a delivery person, retail, restaurant, hospitality, custodian, or any interaction.

What we look for, we find. What we recognize, we encourage more of it to happen.
